El Gerundio

Para formar el gerundio se agrega la terminación "ing" al verbo en infinitivo

Reglas para añadir "ing" a los verbos.

*Añade ing a la forma base del verbo.

eat –> ing 
drink –> ing 
read –> ing 
wash –> ing 
spend –> ing

* Si el verbo termina en –> e, se elimina y se añade –> ing.
dance –> dancing
write –> writing 

make –> making
hide –> hiding


* Si un verbo tiene una sola sílaba y termina en consonante precedida de vocal, se duplica la consonante y se añade –> ing
put –> putting 

get –> getting
run –> running 
swim –> swimming

* Cuando el verbo termine en –> y, se añade –> ing.
study
–> studying 
cry –> crying 
play –> playing

Verbo To Be

El verbo To Be tiene tres formas cuando se conjuga con los pronombres o cualquier otro sujeto.

Primera persona del singular:

I am: Yo soy / estoy

Segunda persona del singular:
You are: Tu eres / estás... o Usted es / está
Tercera persona del singular:
He is: El es / está
She is: Ella es / está
It is: Es / está(pronombre neutro, ej. Está lloviendo: It is raining / It is nice to meet you:Es un placer conocerte.)
Primera persona del plural
We are: (Nosotros) somos / estamos
Segunda persona del plural
You are: Ustedes son / están (El pronombre coincide con el que se usa para la segunda persona del singular)
Tercera persona del plural
They are: Ellos / Ellas son / están (Solo existe un pronombre para el femenino y el masculino)
 
EXAMPLE:
I am a student
You are a teacher
He is a boy
She is a girl
It is a magazine
We are English students
You are English teachers
They are soldiers


El verbo “TO BE” tiene gran uso en preguntas y respuestas de información personal

PREGUNTAR NOMBRE Y APELLIDO

- What is your name? ---> (Cuál es tu nombre?)

- My name is Pedro. ---> (Mi nombre es Pedro.)

- What is your last name? ---> (Cuál es tu apellido?)
- What is your full name? ---> (Cuál es tu nombre completo?)


PREGUNTAR SOBRE LA PROCEDENCIA U ORIGEN DE ALGUIEN:

- Are you from (Caracas)? (Eres tu de...)

- Yes, I am / No, I am not. (Si/ No)

- Where are you from? ---> (De dónde eres?)

- I am from Chile / Santiago de Chile ---> (Yo soy de Chile / Santiago de Chile, etc.)

PREGUNTAR LA EDAD A ALGUIEN O LA EDAD DE SUS FAMILIARES:
- How old are you? --->(Qué edad tienes?)
- I am 30 years old. ---> (Yo tengo 30 años)
- How old is he? ---> (Qué edad tiene él?)
- How old is she? ---> (ソQué edad tiene ella?)
- What is your age? * ---> (Cuál es tu edad?)
*Esta útima forma de preguntar la edad es menos común
